Hydrological Impact of Historical Land Use and Climate (HILUC), pp. , 2026/09/23
Interdisciplinary research on flood formation in small Alpine catchments from around 1850 to present by focussing on specific land use practices
The overarching objective of the project was to quantify the effect of land use change and especially on changes in land use practices within land use types on flood events in small Alpine catchments for the time periods around 1850, 1960 and 2020. We concentrated on secondary forest uses such as litter raking, pollarding and forest grazing, and their possible impact to this day. Over the course of the project, the research questions and methods employed were significantly expanded, resulting in a wide range of individual findings across the three research areas of history, forest ecology and hydrology.
